The empty Borough Park stadium prior to the Blue Square North fixture between hosts Workington AFC (red) and Boston United. The visitors won with a solitary sixth-minute goal by Jon Rowan in front of 388 spectators. Both Workington AFC and Boston United were members of the Football League, the Cumbrians losing League status in 1977 while the Lincolnshire club were relegated in 2007 and demoted two divisions for financial irregularities. Empty spaces amongst the home support in the Leazes Stand as Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspurs in an English Premier League match at St. James' Park. The match was boycotted by a section of the home support critical of the role of owner Mike Ashley and sponsorship by a payday loan company.
