Home midfielder Fabrice Muamba running with the ball at the Reebok Stadium, as Bolton Wanderers take on Liverpool in a Barclays Premier League game. The match was won by Bolton by 3 goals to 1, watched by a near-capacity crowd of 26,854.   • The New Saints 4 Bohemians 0, 20/07/2010. Park Hall Stadium, Champions League 2nd qualifying round 2nd leg. Bohemians forward Mark Quigley shields the ball from Scott Ruscoe at Park Hall Stadium, Oswestry during his team's Champions League 2nd qualifying round 2nd leg game away to The New Saints. Despite leading 1-0 from the first leg, the Dublin club went out following their 4-0 defeat by the Welsh champions. The match was the first-ever Champions League match in the UK played on an artificial pitch and was staged at the Welsh Premier League's ground which was located over the border in England.   • Angelo Ogbonna of West Ham and Callum Wilson of Newcastle contest a loose ball. Newcastle v West Ham, August 15th 2021. The first game of the season, and the first time fans were allowed into St James Park since the Coronavirus pandemic. 50,673 people watched West Ham come from behind twice to secure a 2-4 win.

  • Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 1 Kilsyth Rangers 1, 16/08/2008. Adamslie Park, Sectional League Cup. A Kilsyth Rangers player (blue) competes for a loose ball against local rivals Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in a Sectional League Cup (Central) Section 8 tie at soon-to-be demolished Adamslie Park, Kirkintilloch. The game ended in a 1-1 draw allowing Kilsyth to progress to the quarter-finals. Junior football was divided into East, West and North sections and played throughout Scotland.   • A visiting defender retrieves the ball from the net after the home team scored their third goal at Mount Pleasant as Marske United (in yellow) take on Billingham Synthonia in a Northern League division one fixture. Formed in 1956 in Marske-by-the-Sea, the home club had secured automatic promotion to the Northern Premier League two days before and were in the midst of a run of six home games in 10 days as they attempted to overtake Morpeth Town to win the league. They won this match 6-1 against already relegated Billingham, watched by a crowd of 196.

Great Britain's captain Ryan Giggs (blue shirt) running with the ball at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium during his team's opening Men's Olympic Football tournament match at the venue. The double header of matches resulted in Uruguay defeating the United Arab Emirates by 2-1 while Great Britain and Senegal drew 1-1. Over 72,000 spectators attended the two Group A matches.
