Kilmarnock fans practising safe standing in the rail seating area of the East Stand at Rugby Park. The ground has room for 324 fans to 'safe stand' in the East and South Stands. Celtic Park is the only other Scottish ground to experiment with a safe standing area. Kilmarnock 2 Ayr United 0, Scottish Championship, August 2nd 2021. Following Kilmarnock's relegation in 2020-21, the first game of the new season is the Ayreshire Derby, the first league match between the teams in 28 years. Due to relaxation of Covid restrictions the match was played in front of a crowd of 3200 Kilmarnock fans. The game was shown live on BBC Scotland.
