A step painted with the word 'caution' in the directors' box at The Oval, Belfast, pictured before Glentoran hosted city-rivals Cliftonville in an NIFL Premiership match. Glentoran, formed in 1892, have been based at The Oval since their formation and are historically one of Northern Ireland's 'big two' football clubs. Closed turnstiles at the Terregles Street end at Palmerston Park, Dumfries, after Queen of the South hosted Stranraer in a Scottish Challenge Cup first round match. The game was the opening match of the season in a competition open to sides below the Scottish Premiership. Queen of the South won the match 2-0, watched by a crowd of 1229 spectators. A sign saying "players and officials only" at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, home to Ramsbottom United before they played Barwell in a Northern Premier League premier division match. This was the club's 13th league game of the season and they were still to record their first victory following a 3-1 defeat, watched by a crowd of 176. Ashton Gate is located in the south-west of the city, it currently has an all-seated capacity of 16,600, due to redevelopment, which will increase to a capacity of 27,000 by the start of the 2016-17 season. The club were crowned champions of the Midland Football Combination premier division the previous night due to results elsewhere, their first league win in 61 years. Walsall Wood, who were formed in 1915, won the match 1-0 watched by 69 spectators. Gornal, from the Midland Alliance and appearing for the first time at this stage of the tournament, defeated Wisbech, who play in the Eastern Counties League, by 4-2 after extra-time, after the visitors had lead two-nil after 10 minutes.
