FC United of Manchester match against Benfica, champions of Portugal, which marked the official opening of their new stadium. FC United Manchester were formed in 2005 by fans disillusioned by the takeover of Manchester United by the Glazer family from America. 25 imagesEdinburgh City 1 Brora Rangers 1, 25/04/2015. Commonwealth Stadium, Pyramid play-off 1st leg. The first-ever pyramid play-off match between Edinburgh City and Brora Rangers. Lowland League champions Edinburgh City and Highland League champions Brora both progressed to a play-off to decide whether there would be a club promoted to the Scottish League for the first time in its history. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, the second leg was held the following week in Brora. Photos by Colin McPherson.

Aberystwyth finished 14 points above Newtown in the Welsh Premier League, but were beaten 1-2 in the Play Off Final. In July 2015 Newtown faced Maltese opponents Valletta in the first round of qualifying for the 2015/16 Europa League. A last minute winner in the 1st leg at Latham Park gave the club their first European win and was followed with an away victory giving Newtown their first Europa League Win over two legs. Newtown faced Danish giants Copenhagen in the second round and were defeated over both legs losing 5–1 on aggregate. Photos by Paul Thompson.

The match was boycotted by a section of the home support critical of the role of owner Mike Ashley and sponsorship by a payday loan company. Edinburgh City were the 2014-15 league champions and progressed to a play-off to decide whether there would be a club promoted to the Scottish League for the first time in its history. The Commonwealth Stadium hosted Scottish League matches between 1974-95 when Meadowbank Thistle played there.

Needing a win to guarantee promotion to the top division of Welsh football for the first time, Llandudno took the lead twice, but were held to a draw against Denbigh Town. Llandudno installed an artificial 3G pitch in 2014. The pitch is available for hire, and enables to club to have an active community programme, and teams in every age range, all playing at Maesdu Park. At the end of the season, Llandudno were promoted as champions to the Welsh Premier League for the first time. In their first season in the WPL Llandudno finished 3rd, and qualified for the Europa League. They drew IFK Gothenberg and lost 1-7 on aggregate.
